Production has been under way since late April on 20th Century Fox’s highly-anticipatedAlien: Covenant, and since then, we’ve already gotten a glimpse at a fewset photos. We’ve previously seen the new Xenomorphs, a glimpse at how the Weyland-Yutani corporation connects to this movie, and our first look atKatherine Waterstonas Daniels. Today we have yet another set photo, which features directorRidley Scottand gives us our first look atMichael Fassbender.
This photo surfaced onTwitter, which teases thatMichael Fassbender’s android David has managed to repair himself, after the events ofPrometheus. At the end ofPrometheus, this robot was beheaded, after one of the Engineers ripped it off, trying to kill him. We know that the story takes place roughly 10 years after the events ofPrometheus, so David certainly had plenty of time to get his head on straight, literally.

The story follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, who are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.Alien: Covenantstarts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events betweenPrometheusand the originalAlien.Michael Fassbenderwill be the only originalPrometheusstar returning, reprising his role as the android David, although there had been reports thatNoomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw would come back in a small role.
Back in December, it was confirmed that iconic Alien creatures such as the Facehugger, Chestburster andXenomorphwill be appearing in the sequel. The cast also includesDanny McBride,Demian Bichir,Jussie Smollett,Amy Seimetz,Carmen EjogoandCallie Hernandez.Ridley Scottis directing from a script byJack Paglen,Michael GreenandJohn Logan.Alien: Covenanthas been slated for release on June 08, 2025, going up against Open Road Films’Blazing Samurai.

We learned late last year that the story is set a decade after the events ofPrometheus. Last week, a long-standing rumor swirling around this movie was seemingly confirmed, when a news report claimed thatKatherine Waterstonis in fact playing the mother ofRipley(Sigourney Weaver). This was never confirmed by the the studio, so we’ll have to wait and see if it turns out to be true. In the meantime, take a look at the latest set photo fromAlien: Covenant, as production continues in Australia.
