Blue Protocolis reborn asStar Resonanceand will arrive this year onPC and mobile devicesoutside of Japan, featuring cross-play, an open anime-style world, dynamic combat, and social features such as guilds and trading.

A Second Life for Blue Protocol

The anime-styledMMORPGoriginally developed by Bandai Namco and canceled in Japan last year will come back to life in 2025 with a new version for PC and iOS/Android mobile devices, titledBlue Protocol: Star Resonance.

The game will be published outside of Japan for the first time, launching in Europe, North America, and Latin America on platforms such asSteamand theEpic Games Storeas a free-to-play title.

What to expect from the renewed Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

After its initial release in Japan in June 2023 and its lukewarm reception,Bandai Namco announced server shutdowns and canceled its western release, which had originally been planned withAmazon Games. This decision led to the departure of over a hundred employees from the company.

However, the project was revived by the Chinese studioBokura, with support fromTencent, and includes part of the original development team.

Although it doesn’t have a specific release date yet, it is expected to launch this year.
