Movie theaters in North America have started to receive promotional standees forDeadpool 2, which may have just revealed the official title along with some other rather humorous details. Ryan Reynolds is back in Vancouver forDeadpool 2reshoots, which were scheduled months ago, and he’s been teasing some interesting behind-the-scenes videos of a haunted hallway as well as the place where a gruesome murder took place, but we have still yet to learn the official title forDeadpool 2. However, it looks like the answer was right under our noses the whole time.
The new standees that have been sent to movie theaters feature Deadpool getting all cozy with a giant letter “D,” with a caption that reads, “It’s Bigger.” The Wade Wilson male anatomy joke is pretty blunt and lets fans know that the Merc with a Mouth has notlost his edgefor the sequel. But the important part here is that it reveals that the title isDeadpool 2. That’s right, just the name of the movie and the number 2, no colon or long title likeStar Wars: A Solo StoryorAvengers: Infinity War.
Deadpool 2was already going to stand out from the rest of the pack, but if the title remains the same, it will be refreshing. For a while, it looked like the movie could be called Deadpool: The Sequel, butDeadpool 2sounds and looks a lot better. And let’s face it, when your promotional standee is just one big joke about the male anatomy, simplicity is the key. Deadpool’s sense of humor may have to come out in full force to off-set some of the rumors suggesting that the movie is going to be darker and more dramatic than the first.
Domino actress Zazie Beetzhas claimed thatDeadpool 2is a lot heavier than the first movie. She also noted that there’s more dramatic parts as well as a serious tone that left many fans scratching their heads. But, Domino’s backstory isn’t exactly a fairytale, and either is the backstory of Josh Brolin’s Cable. People seem to forget that Wade Wilson’s past isn’t the mostupliftingof stories either, but that’s what the humor will be utilized for, much like the first movie.
Deadpool 2will be a lot different from the first movie in that there will more than likely bemore character developmentwith the addition of Domino and Cable, but it looks like Wade Wilson is ready tokeep the party goingwhile also kicking some ass.
