Netflix’s hit sequelEnola Holmes 2focuses on the adventures and struggles of Enola Holmes, the younger sister to the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes. As Enola struggles to become a detective herself, she is given a case by a match girl whose sister has gone missing. This case becomes intertwined with one Sherlock is working on. The two siblings work together to solve the mystery of the missing match girl, what she stole, the secret of the match factory, the roaming funds, and the attempt to cover it all up. Behind it all is Mira Troy, who uses the alias Moriarty. Thus, we have been introduced to one of Sherlock Holmes’s most notorious rivals, although in this movie, it would seem that she has also made an enemy of Enola as well.

Another central character from theSherlock Holmes universewas introduced at the end ofEnola Holmes 2, Sherlock’s sidekick and companion, Dr. John Watson. Enola and Sherlock, by the end of the film, have formed a relationship as siblings, fellow detectives, and even the beginning of a friendship, it seems. They make an agreement to check in on each other regularly, but instead of showing up herself, Enola sends John Watson to Sherlock’s flat and tells him that her brother is looking for a flatmate.

With these major characters being introduced, we wonder who else from the Sherlock Holmes universe might join thecast inEnola Holmes 3. Several well-known characters are still missing, but we imagine that only the ones that might come into contact with Enola will be relevant, as this is her story, after all. Let’s take a look at what characters we might see in the upcoming sequel.

Sherlock’s Landlady, Mrs. Hudson

Since Enola and Sherlock worked together closely inEnola Holmes 2,it might stand to reason that we’ll see more of them working together in the next movie. This means it is possible that Enola drops in to visit Sherlock at 221B Baker Street and is introduced to Sherlock’s landlady Mrs. Hudson.

Although Mrs. Hudson isn’t traditionally a major character, the BBCSherlockgave her character a more significant role, and she has since become a beloved character. Of course, there are no guarantees that she will play a major role in the third movie either, but if Enola begins to work regularly with Sherlock, it will make sense that she becomes acquainted with Mrs. Hudson. And if we were to guess, Mrs. Hudson might take on a maternal role towards Sherlock and Enola since their mother is currently on the run and stirring up chaos herself. Mrs. Hudson would provide some stability and perhaps be a resource for the two detectives.

John Watson’s Wife, Mary Morstan

We havejust met John Watsonat the end ofEnola Holmes 2,and we will surely see him again in the third movie, but we do wonder if, at some point, he will meet his future wife in the third movie. Mary Morstan, in the original books, comes to Sherlock with a case and becomes acquainted with John Watson. During the case, the two develop a romantic interest in one another, but John waits until after the case has concluded to propose marriage to her.

Enola is already familiar with Dr. John Watson, it seems, since she is the one that arranged his meeting with Sherlock. What the extent of her relationship with Dr. Watson is, we don’t know yet, but perhaps she has something to do with his introduction to Mary. And even if she doesn’t, we can see Enola and Mary becoming quick friends and allies. Mary is headstrong and brave and would fit perfectly into the Enola Holmes series.

The Fan Favorite Irene Adler

Irene Adler has always been an intriguing character in the world of Sherlock Holmes. She has always been portrayed as afemme fatale type, but of course, there is more to her than that. She is highly intelligent and sees right through Sherlock’s mind games. Although she makes only a single appearance in the books, Irene’s character has made an appearance in the 2009Sherlock Holmesmovie and the BBC One showSherlock.

With her popularity among fans and the Enola Holmes series being centered around strong female characters, it would not surprise us at all if Irene were to grace the screens with yet another iteration of her character. Although she is sometimes portrayed as a love interest for Sherlock, she wasn’t originally written as such. So it will be interesting to see how the Enola Holmes movie might portray her if she is added to the cast.
