Ghost of Yotei Official Release Date Revealed
The long-awaited sequel toGhost of Tsushimanow has a release date. You probably remember the spectacular official reveal ofGhost of Yoteiduring the September 2024State of Play, confirming the return of Sucker Punch’s open-world title in 2025.
Sony PlayStation has revealed the date for one of PS5’s most anticipated exclusives: it will be available starting October 2 this year.
New details aboutGhost of Yoteihave been shared on the PlayStation Blog, including its story, characters, editions, preorder bonuses, and more.
We learn that, 16 years before the events of the sequel, a gang of outlaws known as the Six Yōtei takes everything from Atsu, the story’s protagonist. They leave the young girl impaled on a burning ginkgo tree after murdering her family.
The Onryō List is what drives Atsu on her relentless journey for vengeance—she won’t stop until all six members of the gang are dead: The Serpent, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
Gameplay and Exploration
Atsu embarks on an epic quest across Ezo to hunt the Six Yōtei, and according to Sucker Punch, players will be able to choose the order in which they pursue each target. And that’s just part of what’s been announced.
Death nearly claimed Atsu, but she survived the massacre. Armed with the same katana that was used to impale her, she grows into a relentless outlaw slayer.
Her one obsession is to eliminate the Six Yōtei—she won’t rest until her “list” is complete.
The new trailer also showcases stunning new landscapes of Ezo, a look at the weapons and tools Atsu will use, and even glimpses of a mechanic that allows players to interactively uncover her past.
Ghost of Yotei offers unprecedented freedom—players can choose their next main target, train under masters to upgrade their skills, or take on side missions to forge bonds with allies throughout Ezo.
Editions, Preorder Bonuses, and More Details
Preorders forGhost of Yoteiopen on May 2 at 10:00 AM local time, both throughPlayStation Directand participating retailers. Sucker Punch has revealed the three editions of the game, along with preorder incentives.
All preorders, whether physical or digital, will receive a set of 7 exclusive PSN avatars and a unique mask to customize Atsu.
ThoughGhost of Yoteipreorders are not yet live, you can already add the game to your wishlist on the PS Store. Remember, all editions will be available for preorder starting August 07, 2025.
