TheGolden Globesnominations were announced this morning, officially kicking off awards season in Hollywood. This year looks quite different from the recent past, especially sinceGame of Thronesis no where to be seen. There were some surprises in the TV nominations, as they were called out live, direct from the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
The Golden Globes looks at both film and TV. This year,The Assassination of Gianni Versaceleads the television side of things. It garnered 4 nominations in total. Also coming in heavy were HBO’sBarry,The Kominsky Method, andHomecoming, which each scored 3 nominations apiece. Also scoring 3 nominations are the TV showsSharp Objects,The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselandA Very English Scandal.
In the Best TV Series Drama category,The Americanslooks to be leading the race, withBodyguard,Homecoming,Killing EveandPoseall nominated. Julie Roberts was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her first starring role in a TV show ever, withHomecoming. And Sasha Baron Cohen surprised everyone getting nominated for his very controversial Showtime seriesWho Is America?.
The nominees for both film and TV were presented by Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann, and Christian Slater. Golden Globe ambassador Isan Elba, Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Meher Tatna and Dick Clark Productions executive VP of television Barry Adelman joined them.
This year’s Golden Globes will be televised on January 6. Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg were announced yesterday as the hosts of the 2019 ceremony. you may check out a full list of the nominees below.
