Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt got together in 2014 to star in the sci-fi thrillerEdge of Tomorrow.Directed by Doug Liman, the film saw Cruise playing a man caught in a time loop who joins forces with a warrior played by Blunt to save the human race from extinction in a futuristic world.Edge of Tomorrowreceived positive responses mainly due to the charismatic presence of both stars as well as for its competent art and special effects design.

One of the unique features of the film was the 85 pound suits that both actors had to wear as part of their furturistic warrior look. The weight of the suit combined with the frenetic action in the film posed quite a few problems for Emily Blunt, by the actor’s own confession.

Emily Blunt Struggled With Her Suit InEdge Of Tomorrow

One of the segments required Blunt and Cruise, who play warriors in the film, to wear massive 85 pound heavy suits while fighting an army. In an interview,The Devil Wears Pradastar was asked about how she managed to work with the cumbersome costume as against Tom Cruise who was always in shape and ready to take on a challenge. Blunt, feigning anger, laughingly said,
“How dare you! But I got fit for this one!”

TheMary Poppinsactor then went on to confess that she was completely overwhelmed when wearing the suit for the first time on set and even had a meltdown in front of her co-star and the crew.
“There was nothing cozy about these suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy. The first time I put it on I started to cry, and [Cruise] didn’t know what to do. I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry. I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’

She eventually got through the scene with intense training and some firm words of advice from her co-star, who is a well-known veteran of complex action sequences. The actor added that she now looked back on the incident with humor.

British actor Emily Blunt will next be seen in one of the most awaited films of 2023, Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimer.Apart fromThe Wolfmanstar, the film has a glittering star cast headlined by Cillian Murphy who plays the titular protagonist along with a bunch of A -listers like Robert Downey Jr, Josh Hartnett, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh. Blunt, who plays Kitty Oppenheimer, spoke of her memorable experience on set and the impact the film had on her as an artist.
“I just wouldn’t call this movie a biopic. This is a pulse-racing thriller — a big event movie. It’s an overwhelming experience. I felt like my bones would shatter watching it.”
Speaking of the film which follows the famous Manhattan project that lead to Robert Oppenheimer creating the atomic bomb, Emily Blunt was all praise for her co-star Cillian Murphy and his performance. Calling his portrayal of the protagonist as brilliant and magnetic, Blunt predicted that Murphy’s powerful portrayal of the famous physicist will be remembered for a long time.
