Training manuals are items in Disney Dreamlight Valley you’re able to use to swap your characters’ hangout bonus. When you raise a villager to Friendship level two, you can assign them a hangout perk, allowing you to gain more items when mining, fishing, digging, foraging and gardening. By giving someone one of these manuals, you can change their assigned bonus.
However, there is one requirement; the villager you’re giving the training manual to has to be level 10.

Once you create a training manual, it’s time to change a character’s hangout role! To do this, go to any level 10 villager and tell them you have something to give them. Choose the training manual as your gift to find a “Role Changed” screen, telling you about their new hangout bonus!
