After a car fire injuredJay Lenoearlier this month, the funnyman has been released from the hospital, likely feeling grateful that the situation hadn’t turned out much worse. On Nov. 14, it was reported that Leno had been working on a fuel line for his 1907 White Steam Car in his garage when the automobilesuddenly burst into flames. The accident resulted in Leno suffering a “mix of deep second and possibly third-degree burns” to his face, chest, and hands, according to the Grossman Burn Center’s Dr. Peter Grossman. On Monday,TMZreported that Leno has left the hospital. Before leaving the building, Leno posed for a picture with the Grossman Burn Center staff. Leno’s scars can be seen in the image, but he bears a big smile, maintaining his high spirits. The photo has been spreading on social media as fans are happy to see the formerTonight Showhost on the mend. Some had feared the worst when it was first reported that Leno had been burned.
The burn center also released a statement commenting on Leno’s recovery. While the television star is well enough to go home, he’s not out of the woods just yet. He will be receiving follow-up care at the center’s outpatient facility, but with that said, they are very encouraged by his progress. The statement also shared how Leno feels about the tremendous support that he’s gotten from those concerned about his wellbeing and had been showing so much support.

“Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes,” the statement reads. “He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday.”

Jay Leno Should Be Back to Work Soon Following His Recovery
During his stay, it was reported that Leno had undergone surgery to have his skin repaired. He was also placed in a hyperbaric chamber, a device used to reduce swelling and lower bacteria around his wounds. The burn center staff also noted previously that Leno had been a great patient, at one point handing out cookies to some of the others in the ward. It’s unclear when Leno will return to work, but the goal was for him to be back at it full time within a few months.
Leno may be best known as a former host ofThe Tonight Show, ultimately leaving when Jimmy Fallon took over in 2014. He has since been hosting his car-based seriesJay Leno’s Garage, showcasing his love for automobiles. The comedian also hosts the revival series ofYou Bet Your Life, which premiered last year. Meanwhile, Leno can also be seen playing Ed Sullivan in the upcoming Brian Epstein biopicMidas Man.
