Despite A Brilliant Kang, Jonathan Majors’ Marvel Film Is A Razzie Nominee

Marvel’sAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniadid not live up to its hype at the box office and with critics. The lukewarm responses to the film and certain harsh opinions regarding its treatment were countered partly through a powerful performance byJonathan Majorsas the chilling antagonist Kang the Conqueror. More significantly, the character was seen as the pivot who will play an integral part in future MCU narratives leading up toAvengers: Secret Wars.

Unfortunately, the travails in Majors’ personal life in 2023, which resulted in a guilty court verdict for assault and harassment, had a direct effect on his professional reputation. If his official ousting from Marvel was a big blow, theCaptive Statestar’s ill-luck continued further withAnt-Man 3being featured in 4 nominations at the 2024 Razzie Awards which includes Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel as per a release fromThe Hollywood Reporter

This embarrassing distinction is also a first for any Marvel film at the Razzies and therefore rubs more salt into the wound for not only Kevin Feige and team, but for Jonathan Majors as well considering the fact the his impressive performance was the only bright spark that prevented the film from completely sinking into oblivion.
