Made in Abyss Gets Two Game Mode Details
The 3D Action-RPGMade in Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darknessis releasing this fall, and Spike Chunsoft has released some new details about two game modes Hello Abyss and Deep in Abyss as well as going into details about the crafting system and “The Curse of the Abyss”.
Game Modes
Hello Abyss - Based on the Series
Hello Abyss is mode that will cater to reliving the story of the anime while teaching some of the basic system as well as how players will progress in the game. Taking control of the main character Riko who is an apprentice Cave Raider, and together with a robot in human form called Reg, they will explore and encounter combat in the Abyss.
Deep in Abyss - Original Story
In the Deep in Abyss mode players can control a new Cave Raider who is an original character down to the depths of the Abyss. you’re able to completely customise the character with hairstyles and features. The story is an original which has been overseen by series author Akihito Tsukushi. As this is concentrating on a single-player exploration experience, there will be more of a challenge and action.
Crafting & The Curse of the Abyss
Also introduced was the crafting system, as items such as tools, food and more will be needed for your survival. Gaining materials through exploring will grant options to craft items such as fishing rods, climbing axes, medicine and clothes. Players will need to keep an eye on weight restrictions of gear. Spikechunsoft also mentions it will be important to gain items locally through crafting rather than taking them from town.
The Curse of the Abyss adds a unique element to the original story, as the further the character delves deeper into the abyss, the more the body experiences “severe strains” when returning to the surface which can cause both physical and mental tolls. This looks to be an interesting twist in this game mode, as maybe there will be some risk and reward for delving deeper.
In case you missed it Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness offers both a story based on the anime series, as well as an original story that follows a fantasy experience of darker proportions. Fans can expect to see characters from the series, and even scenes that are fully voiced by the anime cast.
A collector’s edition has also been revealed which will include a 24" x 36" sized cloth poster, a Cave-Raiding Notebook, and will all be contained in a Collector’s Edition box.
Made in Abyss Binary Star Falling into Darknesswill release on PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2022.
