Atomfallhas caches hidden around the map, but you’ll need a metal detector if you want to find them. While the metal detector itself is rather easy to get, using it can become frustrating. This is because, as of right now, there’s not much leniency given for when you dig near a cache.
You almost need to be exactly on top of its location to successfully dig it up, which is inconvenient at best since the detector can make it seem like the item is closer than it truly is. However, it’s good to know that this feature can be a bit finicky before you get started.

Is Bunker L6 Worth Finding in Atomfall?
Are the items in Bunker L6 worth the time?
While that will hopefully be addressed in a patch, you’re able to still learn how to get and use the metal detector, and work on finding the caches that are hidden throughout the regions.

How to Get the Metal Detector
The easiest and most reliable way toget the metal detector is to make a visit toMolly, the traderyou can find at the top of the mapfor Slatten Dale. However, you need to adhere to the barter system, so you want to collect some items that you can give Molly in exchange for the metal detector. She also has a flashlight and key to a shelter that are worth picking up, and you can get all three items from her in exchange for some melee weapons from Outlaws, if you find some to defeat and loot on your way to her.
How to Use the Metal Detector
When you get the metal detector, you can equip it in your quick select menu, but you don’t need to. The best part about the metal detector is that you only need it in your inventory to use it. When you’re near a cache that you can dig up, youget a prompt from the metal detector in the bottom left corner of your screen, along with a control you can use to equip it without going into your inventory.
Then, you use it similarly to a gun. Use the aiming controls to use the metal detector, moving around the area until the meters are as far to the right as you’re able to get them in that area. Then, you dig to look for a cache using the same controls you use to fire a weapon. It’s refreshingly convenient.

With that, you can work towards getting some treasures with the help of the metal detector, which is a requirement for some achievements if you’re hunting them in Atomfall.
