Michael B. Jordanhas found his next directorial project following his debut film,Creed 3,in the form ofThomas Crown Affair. Jordan is one of the most acclaimed rising stars to emerge from the 2010s with films likeChronicle,Fruitvale Station,Just Mercy, andBlack Panther. Jordan’s star-making role was as Adonis Creed in 2015’sCreed, the spin-off continuation of the Rocky franchise. He reprised his role inCreed II, and then, forCreed III, stepped behind the camera as the film’s director in his directorial debut.Creed IIIwas ahit with critics and audiences, and since then,fans have been waiting to see what film Jordan would direct as his follow-up.

According toDeadline, Michael B. Jordan will star and directThomas Crown Affairfor Amazon MGM. Jordan has built up a good working relationship with Amazon MGM, as they distributedCreed III,and his production company, Outlier Society, has a first-look deal with Amazon.MGM is setting the film up for a theatrical release. Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy) will pen the script forThomas Crown Affair, and now production will look to find Jordan’s co-star.

The second film version was 1999’sThe Thomas Crown Affair, directed by John McTerninan and starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Both versions of the story revolve around Thomas Crown, a billionaire who is also a thief. The first film centers on a jewel heist, while the second is about stealing rare paintings. In either case,The Thomas Crown Affairis a love story between Thomas Crown and a female agent assigned to investigate his crimes. They were hits, with the1968 version being nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards for “The Windmills of Your Mind,“while the 1999 version grossed $124 million worldwide against a $48 million budget.
