Happy New Year! The first major horror film of 2024 is just around the corner withNight Swim, produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse. The film follows a baseball player and his family who move into a new house after he is forced to retire due to a debilitating illness. Unfortunately, due to its mysterious past, the amount of death and tragedy associated with the swimming pool has caused it and the house to be haunted.

“I just sawGodzilla Minus One. I freaking loved it. There’s such a good character story there. [The main character] can’t forgive himself. He’s trying to start this family, or he doesn’t want to give himself that happiness. But then also, the monster just kicks ass. The sound design’s amazing. I love a movie like that […] It’s scary, it’s rock ‘n’ roll, it’s great creatures, great design. So that was one that really stuck with me. I also thoughtPoor Thingswas great.M3GAN, of course, beginning of last year, in the same slot we’re going to be in, was so much fun and had such a cultural moment […] Our editor Jeff McEvoy cutM3GANas well. So yeah, I feel connected to that movie’s success.”

Kerry Condon and Wyatt Russell Are Hilarious Co-Stars

Our full interview with Russell and Condon is very fun, and they’re right when they say that they argue like an old married couple, except with much more humor and grace. Watching them discuss their favorite movies of 2023 was a highlight, especially when it came to Russell. Here’s what they said:

“2023 was a big long year now,” said Kerry Condon. “But at the top of my head, I’m going to sayEO. It was the foreign language film last year. It was incredible. And it’s not foreign language, cause it’s all about a donkey. There’s not much talking in it, that’s why it’s so beautiful. It’s kind of through the eyes of an animal.”

“My problem is that I have a three-year-old,” said Wyatt Russell. “I’m intoMickey’s Funhouseand, like,Blippi— who is the biggest star on planet Earth, by the way. But my wife and I, it sounds horrible, but it’s so hard to get out to go see a movie.”

“Come on, Wyatt, pick one!” exclaimed Condon.

“I’m trying to think of fu**ingonethat I’ve seen.Wishjust came out.”

“Yeah, did you see that?” asked Condon excitedly.

“Saw the trailer… The last movie I saw in theaters wasTriangle of Sadness, and I thought that was the greatest movie.”

“Oh yeah, that’s a good one,” admitted Condon.
