Metroid Prime 4 is Still On Track for 2025

It’s one of the most anticipated games of recent years. Many still recall its official announcement during Nintendo’s E3 2017 showcase, which left fans hyped for Samus Aran’s first shooter entry on the Switch.

Unfortunately, its development has been rocky, to say the least. In 2020, Nintendo confirmed a complete reboot of the project, with Retro Studios taking over most of the development duties from Bandai Namco.

Along the way, the Metroid franchise experienced a resurgence with the excellent Metroid Dread (Metroid 5) and an impressive remaster—almost a remake—of Metroid Prime, the classic GameCube title.

Finally, after years of waiting, Nintendo confirmed during the June 2024 Direct that Metroid Prime 4 will release in 2025. Unless something changes, it’s expected to be the last MAJOR exclusive game for the Nintendo Switch before its successor arrives.
