Nintendo DS classicAnother Code: Two Memories(known asTrace Memoryin North America) is getting a full 3D remake on Nintendo Switch. The remaster is actually being bundled together with its sequelAnother Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memories, under the titleAnother Code: Recollection.This remaster also marks the first time that the Wii-exclusive sequel will be available to play in North America. The collection launches on the 19th of January 2024.

Originally released in 2005,Another Code: Two Memoriesfollows 13-year-old Ashley Mizuki Robbins as she searches for her father on the mysterious Blood Edward Island, all while being helped by her ghostly friend D. Both games have interesting mystery based narratives and are played through in the classic point click adventure style.
What Will Another Code: Two Memories Look Like on The Nintendo Switch?
While it may be a nice surprise for fans of theAnother Codeseries to see their favourite games remastered for Nintendo’s latest console, the choice is still a bizarre one. WhileAnother Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memorieswas released on the Wii, with motion controls in mind during development,Another Code: Two Memoriesrelied heavily on the features of the Nintendo DS.
What this means is that there are puzzles that appeared in the original version of the game that the Switch remaster may not be able to replicate as it used the Nintendo DS’ upper and lower display screens. One iconic puzzle involves the use of the dual screens to reflect an image to find a letter and a number that are used to help you locate a book that solves a puzzle.

While they may not remove the puzzles entirely from the remaster as there could be a digital representation of a second screen in the game, it will be interesting to see how the developers ofAnother Code: Recollectionfind a workaround for the issue.
While it’s great to see “forgotten” Nintendo games finally get a remaster I can’t help but think what other titles we may see later on down the line receive the remaster treatment.
