Earlier this week, thefinal trailerforStar Trek Beyonddebuted, which included portions of Rihanna’s new song “Sledgehammer,” which will be part ofStar Trek Beyond’s official soundtrack. While the full soundtrack won’t be available until July 29, a week afterStar Trek Beyondhits theaters on July 22, the full music video for “Sledgehammer” was released today. We saw on the “Sledgehammer” single cover art thatRihannais featured with a fullStar Trekcostume on, and we see the singer sporting a new look in this unique music video.
While we don’t know exactly whatRhiannais dressed up as in this music video, which debuted onYouTube, we have previously reported that there will be over 50 differentalien speciesin this sequel. This music video also features the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, and is the first music video in history to be entirely filmed using IMAX cameras.Floria Sigismondidirected th music video, using the ALEXA IMAX camera, which was used for the intense battle sequence in Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil War.

With less than a month until this sci-fi sequel hits theaters, going up against the thrillerLights Out, it remains to be seen on the studio and franchise as a whole plans on honoring the late franchise star.
