With the release of God of War approaching, a number of previews for God of War have been released. And the verdict from these previews is rather god. I mean…good.

God of War is shaping up to be a huge “epic on Horizon: Zero Dawn’s scale”

So far, the first three hours have been made available for previewers. They’re described as “emotional and mature”. In terms of the game’s length, developer SIE Santa Monica Studio have hinted that it may be huge enough to even rivalHorizon: Zero Dawn.

According to Geoff Keighley, who hosts The Game Awards and E3 Coliseum showcases, Kratos' Nordic-centered escapades are going to be long.

Rumour: God of War to be a huge ‘epic on Horizon: Zero Dawn’s scale’

“From what I was told we only played about 5% of the full game. If that’s the case, this is going to be an epic on the scale of Horizon – and with tons of weapon and skill tree upgrades, I can’t wait to see how the game opens up in the other 95%” - Geoff Keighley, via Twitter.

He went on to discuss the emotional nature of the game’s story.

PlayStation 4

“While the team doesn’t want us sharing much on story, there’s one sequence early on that takes the scale of a God of War boss fight in a totally different and more intimate direction – and it works, because the emotion is just as big and visceral.” - Geoff Keighley, via Twitter

God of Warwill be released on June 28, 2025. It’s a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
