Iron Man’s actions in the last film in theInfinity Saga,Avengers: Endgame, left many plotholes and consequences that are being discovered and discussed amongst fans to this date, years after its release. Considering how many things factor in when making a film for a franchise such as this, with as many details and parallel plotlines as it has, it is no surprise that some things were missed and some things were hidden in order to provide continuity and more credibility to future projects.

Thanos and Iron Man

The most recent addition to this discussion is the fact that the actions taken by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man in this film, specifically the fact that he killed a past version of Thanos, from 2014 in the year 2023. This caused a ripple effect that inevitably led to the destruction of Earth itself. As well as the fact that this could help Marvel lead into the rumored soft reboot with the sixthAvengersfilm,Avengers: Secret Wars, that has been the talk of the town.

Iron Man was Responsible For The Death Of Billions

The Butterfly Effect is a scientific theory that focuses on the concept that the smallest of actions can have the biggest of consequences and the entire world is interconnected, believing that a small butterfly flapping its wings could, hypothetically, cause a typhoon. With this in mind,Iron Mankilling the 2014 version of Thanos to save his reality in 2023 is bound to have dire consequences that even the genius himself could not have seen coming.

With Thanos, as a threat, being gone from the reality that he was originally from, a new branch was created where the snap and the blip never happened. While this could mean some very positive things, like Vision, Natasha Romanoff, Gamora, and Tony Stark would still be alive, this would not last very long. The reason for this entirely has to do with the events ofEternals. The Eternals, as a group, collectively decided to save the planet Earth because they were inspired by the actions of the Avengers inAvengers: Endgame, giving them faith in humanity and thinking they are worth saving.

With the events of bothAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgamehaving never taken place in this alternative timeline, the Eternals were never motivated to save Earth from the Celestial, guaranteeing planetary destruction.

Avengers: Secret WarsCould Undo This

There have been a number of rumors circulating around thatAvengers: Secret Warsis going to help execute a soft reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting new stories and well as continuing the stories of fan-favorite characters. While this may be met with some resistance, there is a chance that the studio could do something completely different.

Rather than doing a soft reboot, they could start fresh, clearing the slate completely with this film and setting up a completely new timeline. This could be done by erasing all of the alternative branches in the timeline, including the one where the consequences ofAvengers: Endgamedestroyed the planet, forcing us to be left with only one.

With this timeline being destroyed, as well as all the others that were created because of Iron Man, the blood that was on his hands would no longer be there as they would no longer exist.
