The highly underratedStar Trek: Resurgence is heading to Nintendo Switch later this month as announced on Wednesday by developer Dramatic Labs. The game is brought to you by former TellTale storymakers who tell you an original story within the final frontier. It’s “been a long road” getting to the Nintendo Switch, but hopefully the port will run well.

The Nintendo Switch will finally be getting Star Trek: Resurgence on August 28, according toGematsu. The narrative game was previously launched on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store) more than two years ago on Jun 07, 2025. It laterreceived a Steam releasein May 2024.

Star Trek: Resurgence takes place after The Next Generation’s storyline on the U.S.S. Resolute, a vessel for scientific pursuits. You play two main characters, first officer Jara Rydek and engineer Carter Diaz, whose decisions will shape the fate of the crew forever. Some major characters from the show’s history appear in Star Trek: Resurgence. Ambassador Spock helps guide Rydek as she becomes a leader on the ship, and Captain William T. Ryker also has some words to say about her decisions down the line. Jonathan Frakes reprises his role as the iconic character from The Next Generation.

The game received mixed reviews from critics with 39% of outlets recommending the title onOpenCritic. It has a 71 Top Critic average on the website. However, it is arguably one of the best Star Trek games you can play. It has a thrilling, engaging story that involves you in the centre of the action. There are some fun nods for Star Trek fans to notice, and there are some unexpected characters who show up during the events of Resurgence. Additionally, the acting is top-notch from cast members, such as Krizia Bajos (Mafia: The Old Country, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III) as Jara Rydek and Josh Keaton (Hercules, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) as Carter Diaz.

For those curious about Star Trek: Resurgence, there is currently a demo you can download fromSteam. Currently, there is no information about a possible demo on the Nintendo eShop.

If you can’t wait until August 28, there is currently a 66% off sale on Valve’s platform until August 25.

No Word From Dramatic Labs

Star Trekhas had a recent renaissance, it seems like. Relatively new shows, such as Star Trek: Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds have received acclaim from fans and critics. Our sister site ScreenRant called Picard Season 3 a “triumph” and saidin its reviewthat “the plot is compelling, the performances are strong across the board, and it’s even surprisingly funny.”

Unfortunately, the developer of Star Trek: Resurgence, Dramatic Labs, doesn’t seem as successful. The X account of the developer has been shut down, and there has been no word on a future project from the studio. It has been relatively silent. Hopefully, the indie studio is still up and running with a sequel or another game in production. Meanwhile, a competitor in the space, TellTale Games is currently working on The Wolf Among Us 2, which disappointingly no-showed Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday. The developer said in October 2024 thatthe project is still up and running.
