Double assassinations, first introduced inAssassin’s Creed II, quickly became a staple of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Beginning with Ezio’s first journey, players were given the means to take out two targets at once, typically using two hidden blades (though some characters, likeEdward Kenway, could use dual cutlasses as well). That all ended with the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Origins and the RPG era of Assassin’s Creed. The RPG marked the end of the double hidden blade and a dilution of assassinations. WhileOrigins,Odyssey,Valhalla, andMirageall featured ways to chain assassinations together, the double assassination never made a return. That is, until now.

While players only get one Hidden Blade inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, there is a way to unlock and perform true double assassinations. Here’s how to add this iconic skill to your repertoire.

First off, double assassinations can only be used with Naoe (sorry, Yaskue mains). The double assassination skill can be found in her ‘Assassin’ skill tree under the Mastery tab. To unlock double assassination, you’ll need:

Once you have the requisite Knowledge Rank and enough Mastery Points, you can unlock double assassinations.

What are the Restrictions?

Unlocking double assassinations does not gift Naoe with a second Hidden Blade. Instead, there are a few caveats to take into consideration to enable and use this skill.

Firstly, as stated above, you have to play as Naoe. Yaskue doesn’t have a Hidden Blade, nor can he pull an Edward Kenway and utilize dual katanas to double assassinate. His ability to assassinate enemies will always be tied to a single Brutal Assassination.

Secondly, Naoe must always have a Tanto equipped to one of her weapon slots. This small, sharp blade acts as a second Hidden Blade to enable double assassinations. Merely having it equipped to one of the slots allows you to use double assassinations, but it does mean you have to sacrifice using either a Katana or Kusarigama.

Third, the double assassination ability’s rules remain tied to the RPG mechanics of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Meaning, you need to keep upgrading the strength of assassinations if you truly want to be like Ezio and assassinate targets in one hit. However, you can bypass this by turning on one-hit assassinations.

Are Double Assassinations Worth it?

Simply put, yes. Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers enough opportunities and tools to group up enemies together. Double assassinations offer a quicker, more effective way at taking down more enemies efficiently. It also helps that the Tanto is an effective weapon in combat.

While it may not pack the pure strength of a katana or kusarigama, they are excellent for piercing armor and causing status effects, such as bleeding. It’s great to have double assassinations back in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and even better that the skill is as useful as it is.
