Whether it’s in a game or in real life, the creativity behind food drives so many people. InTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, one person in this desolated wasteland seems to still have the thrill of creating something special. Famed cook Rumpolt Finnini has been trying to master his long-in-development dish for what feels like an eternity, but even with all his knowledge, he’s unable to finish it. That’s where you come into play.

Accepting the Quest
In order to accept the 120 Days of Herring and Cheese quest, you will first need to complete the Silk Road side mission. This can be taken on from Orlaith when you first enter the Horns of the South settlement. She will be the first friendly face you encounter in the keep, being a shopkeeper who sells all sorts of goods.
After talking to her, you will obtain the Silk Road quest that takes you on an adventure to find some missing cargo and her carrier. After retrieving her package, she will then instruct you to bring the package to a specific ruined location and blow it up with a well-placed fire arrow. After doing so, this will open up a whole in the ground with a ladder leading to a dungeon of sorts. From here, you will meet Rumpolt Finnini, a rather ghoulish man just standing in the middle of a jail thinking about food.
Talking to him, Rumpolt will set you on a quest to make the best combination known to man: cheese and herring fish. There is something suspicious about the man, considering he seems to be oblivious of the men in charge and has only one thing on his mind. Regardless, you will receive a recipe from Rumpolt in hopes of mastering his recipe.

The recipe is pretty simplistic for the Sour Herring and Cheese:
Where to Find Cheese
The Cheese Part is probably the easiest part of this quest. You’ll likely have come across cheese on your adventures, but if you didn’t pick it up, it’s pretty close by. Head into the jail cell to the right of Rumpolt (on his left) and there will be a number of fish strung up. Unfortunately, none of them are the herring you’re looking for, but cheese can be found all throughout this room. There are some of the desk and some on the other side of the room.
Where to Find the Really Special Herring
As the name suggests, you’re not looking for any old herring. Instead, you will need to obtain a unique herring to progress in this quest. Unfortunately, if you haven’t been exploring much, you likely won’t have a means to catch a fish. From where you first shipwrecked at the beginning of the game (after the jail), head south across the water onto a small island – you can also take a rock bridge at higher elevation. Here, you will come across some undead, but there will be a box here that contains a fishing rod.
After obtaining the fishing rod, head back to where you meet Rumpolt but head to the east where there will be the ocean. There will be a specific spot you will need to fish at, following the in-game instructions of how to fish.
It will likely take a few attempts, but eventually you’ll snag a Really Special Herring. After this, simply set up camp nearby and cook the Sour Herring and Cheese from the recipe tab. When you hate the item, return to Rumpolt and hand over the greatest creation of his life, and you will be rewarded with XP and a special item.
